About Anytime Fitness
Exercise with ease, fun and personal attention
Anytime Fitness is an American concept with 5200 clubs worldwide. They use the same equipment all over the world, they have the same appearance and you can also enter everywhere with just one key. They stand for personal attention and the convenience of being able to work out at any time. Limburg got the first club in the Netherlands and from there they expanded further. There are now more than 130 clubs in the Netherlands and Belgium. Because you can work out in every club with the same key, it is becoming increasingly interesting for athletes to choose Anytime Fitness.
After his success at Anytime Fitness in Made, Lars Bijleveld (owner of Anytime Fitness Made and Dongen) decides to open a club in Dongen. In Made, SPIE is the installer;
“they always deliver good work and the cooperation is pleasant. The choice was therefore quickly made to have SPIE also provide the installation in Dongen.”
About SPIE
No thinking without doing, no doing without thinking
SPIE is a leading player in technical services in the field of security technology. They offer intercom, access control, camera and surveillance systems that are woven into one total package. By not only looking at the requirements and wishes of the end user, but also at the latest available technology, SPIE delivers the best solution. Remco Leurs (security advisor SPIE Fire Protection & Security) says:
“SPIE is very familiar with the Anytime Fitness concept, we have now provided installation at more than 130 clubs. We have been the installer for years and are well informed about the requirements from the head office of Anytime Fitness Benelux. Every time we look at what we can improve.”
The challenge
Combining personal attention with safety at all times
Each franchise establishment must comply with strict rules of the concept, with little room for deviation. The best strategies of clubs all over the world are applied in all clubs. Safe exercising is of course of great importance, also during unmanned hours. In order to be able to guarantee this, tailgating (where an unauthorized person enters directly behind an authorized person) must be prevented.
Another point of attention is that the physiotherapist can easily see who is at the door and can open the door if necessary, without leaving his treatment room when he is busy with a client. The following requirements were set for the system:
- 24/7 clear images of the entire building
- View images remotely (live and playback)
- Communicate with (non-)members at the door
- Open door remotely
- Recording of intercom images
- Check for entry without a pass
- Hospitable appearance

The solution
An innovative total solution with the video intercom
In addition to the surveillance system, SPIE recommended the IDIS Video Intercom. This is easily linked to the camera system and can open the door. Because a separate system is no longer needed for the intercom, there are fewer cables, fewer malfunctions and therefore lower costs. Thanks to communication via the intercom, the person at the door can be helped immediately.
The hospitable entrance has no gates or locks. To prevent tailgating, an alarm goes off in the event of an intruder and the person is shown large on the screen. This has a deterrent effect and also alerts the staff. And because it can also be viewed remotely, it becomes easier to keep the club safe.
The camera images, including the intercom, can easily be viewed on a phone and tablet with IDIS Mobile Plus. With one simple tap on the screen, the door is opened remotely.
In the event of an incident (such as theft or vandalism), the images can be easily retrieved. The key used by the perpetrator can then be found, and with it the associated personal data.
Remco says:
“We look beyond the requirements, we go for the best solution. By taking that extra step, the costs are sometimes higher, but that pays off in quality and ease of use.”
The result
Hospitality with the greatest of ease
“The added value of the Video Intercom quickly becomes apparent. When someone rings the doorbell, you can quickly see on your phone or tablet who is there, communicate and open the door if necessary. The physiotherapist also no longer has to leave his treatment room. And if a prospective member is at the door during unmanned hours, I can immediately schedule an appointment.
In the morning, I watch the images of the unmanned hours from the evening before. Because the system itself recognizes events, I can quickly see if there have been any incidents during these hours. Customers feel safe here, which is evident from leaving their belongings in the changing room and not using the lockers,” says Lars.
He enthusiastically says:
“I am very pleased with the sharp images. The details are clearly visible and especially the convenience that the intercom offers is a real improvement.”
It’s not the same. It’s IDIS.
